Eyelid Surgery

Facial expressions play an important role in how we communicate. Because of this, bags, excess skin, or exhausted expressions can be particularly frustrating. Loose skin and fat deposits on the upper and lower eyelid, commonly called bags, can be removed through eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty). It’s time for your eyes to reflect the strong, youthful and confident person you are.

How it works

Always done on an outpatient basis, this procedure is performed under general or local anesthesia. With an upper lid blepharoplasty, an incision is made in the natural skin fold of the eyelid and excess tissue is removed. With the lower lid, an incision is made under the eyelash line or on the inside of the lower lid itself. After the incision is made, excess skin and fatty tissue are removed and the incisions are closed. In both cases, the incision scars fade completely, and you are on your way to more radiant eyes.

What to expect

You can expect to enjoy your new look in just ten to fourteen days. Swelling should subside within a few days while bruising may last one to two weeks. Absorbable stitches are used and will dissolve after one to two weeks. Patients typically get back to everyday activities within a week to ten days. It may take about six months for the scars to lose their redness, but this is not particularly noticeable.
