Time and aging are often unkind to our appearance – especially to our face! It’s important to remember that the anxiety caused by our changing form is almost as natural as aging itself. With a facelift, however, you can once again have the refreshed and youthful look you once loved.
How it works
Performed under local or general anesthesia, the facelift procedure tightens the neck and facial muscles that lie underneath the skin. Then any excess skin is removed. Discreet incisions are made behind the patient’s hairline – concealing any signs of the procedure.
If needed, the surgeon will also remove fatty deposits from underneath the chin and neck. Most facelifts call for some facial fat injections in key areas like the cheek and lip. All incisions will be closed using small, absorbable stitches. This comprehensive approach ensures that your face looks balanced and well structured.
What to expect
Recovery from a facelift procedure may include swelling and bruising which should subside within a few weeks. After the operation, the skin and area surrounding the ear may be numb, and the face itself will feel fairly tight. The healing process is gradual, and final results may take up to six months after the procedure to appear. Following postoperative instructions and maintaining a close relationship with your surgeon is the best way to minimize concerns and avoid complications.
